Looking for a guide

Hello, all. I am new here, but have already realized that this is something much more mysterious than I had previously thought. I am located in PA, but have been following the events closely. While I am not local, I hope I may be of help.

Welcome! You’re definitely in the right forum, the stickies here and topics here should get you at least partially up to speed. Being local hasn’t stopped others from getting set up on their path, and there have been experiences for others who are out of town so you’re neither alone nor safe from the OOA.

I suppose I’m mostly interesting in knowing when/how things happen to you. Is it just a waiting game, or are there things I can do to be “noticed?”
On a second note, what exactly should I be doing now? Are there places/people/puzzles that need help or is everything currently already under control? I’d love to get involved as much as possible.

@thegilded wrote a great response to someone yesterday about this, but I think that conversation may have been deleted. Basically, “be active” is the best advice. That could mean anything from responding to posts/asking questions on here, talking about them on Facebook, writing about them, etc. Basically, participate
