For sake of getting back to the points discussed in the posts I meant for you to consider…

I posted this because I was VERY confused about something.

I thought, perhaps, someone would be able to help me understand… as this is a forum for discussion.

Instead of asking convoluted questions, I decided to post my query. I removed parts people asked me to remove.

Someone replied via direct message. I had since had my question answered in a way that I could understand.

Instead of giving a vague response in the message, I finished the thought of the original post.

THIS THREAD was designed as an extension of HAZEL UNDERSTANDS (which I, erroneously thought would be understood), which discusses details pre-Ascension. This is a continuation of that thread.

As a writer, I appreciate presenting thoughts in different ways. I won’t apologize when it’s misunderstood. I will say, that I absolutely will not post anything you tell me without your permission, so chill.

Sure, but you def needed to think about it before posting the first time. This is a forum for discussion yes, but posting discussions held elsewhere word for word isn’t cool.

The forum is also in-game. Like, always in-game. There was a near month-long discussion about how to even approach discussion of Ascension here before anyone talked about it, because apart from spoilers, those thoughts are pretty OOG.

A great way to keep thoughts in order without blowing up the forum may be a blog? I have a notebook with my ideas, but you seem to want your stuff public. Blogs are good for that for sure.

You have thoughts about a lot of stuff obviously but a blog may be more conducive to keeping things lined up vs taking over the activity feed?

You know, I get where you’re coming from. ESPECIALLY just having come in to it last Friday. It has been an incredibly daunting task trying to keep things straight (as this very post demonstrates).

I do, however, think it is unfair to limit my contribution based on the activity feed. My thoughts, however late, deserve to be reflected, as I am a member of this community. I understand your frustrations, though.

Many have advised me to use the search bar located at the top of the main forum page.

It would help if people tagged things for efficiently, but that’s another stream of thoughts altogether.

I have been working tirelessly trying to establish an accurate timeline and am, in fact, am working on a bible. If you would like to contribute, I would greatly appreciate it, as it seems you have an extensive understanding of how things ought to work around here.

So, wait, I’m confused. This is a private conversation you had and it’s now copied/pasted here? And it’s not with a character and it’s not current info?

I just want to piggyback on something that @addisonborn said here because I think it’s important. A lot of us have been here a long time and have worked hard to create a “community” of sorts. We are completely welcoming to newcomers, but newcomers should generally be aware of and respect the culture they are entering. The site isn’t perfect and we’ve developed some etiquette to help all of us navigate it – for instance, the adoption of 280 characters of SPOILER warnings so as to not put spoilers accidentally in the activity feed. That requires HUGE community buy in and we have it, because we’re really into this.

If this private conversation were in-game and between you and AG or another character I could understand posting it, because we’ve agreed unofficially as a community that information given to us as individuals is shared unless we have a good reason to keep it to ourselves (“good reason” pretty much only used to mean that you were told to keep it to yourself, but with Ascension, that might be more nebulous now).

Believe me, I am THE WORST at being meta or off topic on the forums and I’ve tried hard over several months to curb that tendency. I try to confine that to my own blog and to conversations elsewhere, and to the articles I write. Again, I’m sorry my timeline isn’t up to help you out, it’s out of my control right now, I’ll try to get to it after the semester ends, rebuilding it is going to be a big project. But seriously, we ONLY have the activity feed on this site, and we only have that because we asked for it (in May?) so we try to keep it as clean as possible. And I’m totally fine with doing that so that the Creators can put their energies into the thing we’re all so passionate about instead of a streamlined website.

Things evolve. Every day there are people joining. Every day there are new voices added. Every day there are people saying that they’ve followed along this whole time, but are just now speaking up.

I understand and appreciate your compulsion to protect your community. However, it is not an exclusive club with explicit rules. We all should have an opportunity to evolve in our own _path, and in our own way, without being publicly chastised.

Indoctrination is over. Ascension is nearing completion. These forums are here for us to review and contribute to. This is the mode in which we communicate.

You know what makes a community? Communication.

To censor me is beyond egregious.

The creators have said themselves that this project is the first of its kind- and that is true in SO many ways. The possibilities are endless!

Maybe your processes worked before things blew up. Maybe I am that blow up. Things are different now, and unless I am breaking some rules (the ones that shouldn’t be broken), I refuse to apologize.
