Another topic of half cocked theories. I know you’re all excited.
To start, we don’t know how a Gatekeeper comes to be. III’s recent post includes a reference to his “birth” which further solidifies our idea that there is a singular event that causes a Gatekeeper to be “born”. Whether that means converting an otherwise normal human into something else or a being that is created wholesale we are unsure, but there is definitely a process involved.
We started with 5. We were not privy to his birth, but presumably everything went normally. He was as III acts now, normal and detached with a somewhat calm demeanor. 4 arrived on schedule, but was certainly more volatile than 5. She wasn’t nearly as calm and if you assume for a moment that III’s previous posts were some variation of growing pains and his newest post is his more permanent demeanor, then 4 acts unlike either of the other two.
We know that the OOA is currently in a state of flux, there is panic and fear in their camp. It was easy to assume that III was the problem in the first place, but what if III was only a symptom of a bigger problem?
What if the Gatekeeper transfer/birth process is degrading? What if 4’s volatility, III’s premature arrival and “incubation stage” that he only just got out of is because the process or tool used to create/transfer Gatekeepers is losing effectiveness? What if the other reason that the OOA is panicking is because a side effect of the New Dawn that is upon us is that they’re losing abilities that they once had? What if III is the last Gatekeeper not because of his power or his choice, but because after III’s birth they simply cannot make any other Gatekeepers?

He still talked about himself and III as being two separate entities that have become one now. It would make sense that something happens for them to be reborn but you are right, maybe the process isn’t going as planned. That could be why III had so much trouble being only one. We have no way to know how a Gatekeeper should act as we’ve only seen 3. If we assume 5 is the standard then how much worse could GK2 and GK1 end up being. It seems crazy to think being annihilated isn’t the worst possible outcome!

That would make a lot of sense, whatever they use/do to either create/summon the gatekeeper’s is starting to shit the bed and messing everything up… But to argue that point, maybe 3 IS saying he has all power and is ending the process for the remaing two himself, 4 caught wind and decided to go on her own and make her own gatekeeper #2? And to add one more random ass theory, maybe 4 started to see how everything was starting to shit the bed and that’s why she left on her own with Addison (to transform her?), but didn’t realize 3 would be so fucked. If you need something done right, you gotta do it yourself?

I dig it. If III ever does another AMA, we should keep the “How does a GK come to be?” as one of them.
It could be a bigger problem they’re worried about…maybe III is being controlled somehow by someone else and that’s really who they’re scared of.
Also, more to theorize about….but what if after III’s birth, he smashed whatever birthed him, this making sure he was the final Gatekeeper. Maybe he didn’t want to share the spotlight and took it upon himself to make sure he is the final one.

Wanted to bring up this old topic since what Kim had said recently, she has stated that one had already turned his head toward her. This means one is already conscious in some way. Not sure if this means it already has a host to chill in or it’s still wherever GK’s are before being fully active, but it is conscious and is observing everything that is happening right now. However to counter that, the leaked email from the other day also suggests that the one is not quite awake and 2 may be trying to do this on her own?

Maybe One is in that state when you’re just waking up and are pretty much aware of what is going on around you, but you’re not quite ready to react so you push the snooze button on your alarm… maybe One just needs someone to get him a coffee…

This makes me think of all the theorizing over @gatekeeper3 and how he was described as not being ready, or coming too soon. People thought perhaps it meant he wasn’t fully cooked yet, he was a preemie, not ready to be hatched. Maybe this is all true in a metaphorical sense and the thing that makes the gatekeeper ready is the teachings that come through that helmet. If the teachings aren’t complete (GK3?), the helmet malfunctions (GK4?) or the teacher is corrupt (GK2?) all sorts of shenanigans can ensue.

Absolutely, 5 seemed to be the only one who was “awoken” properly… And to have a somewhat happy ending. The rest were all messed around with two much, and now we have 2 trying to wake up one on her own (if he’s not already awake)… Can’t see anything wrong with that
