Words can’t express how giddy I am now that you have unveiled yourself as Mr. Ohio. Hats off, Four, truly. This only makes me love you more.

Here are the details specific to my experience.
They did not have a name tag for me. When they eventually created a tag, they did not have a way of fastening it, so I carried it around in my hand. @111error did the same.
I entered the event and started examining the books and objects that had been placed around the room. I spoke briefly to a few people – I told Addison it was nice to finally meet her, greeted VincentVega – but was soon pulled aside by Mary, Gatekeeper 19. She pulled me against a wall, leaned in, and urgently asked me something like, “Do you believe in us, do you believe in what we’re doing?” I said, “I don’t know,” because I wasn’t really sure what they were doing. She said, “If I asked you to prove your devotion to us, would you do it?” I said, “Maybe…” because I dislike blind promises. She said, “I want you to not say anything to anyone. Not a word, not a syllable. If someone speaks to you, say nothing. I will be watching you. Can you do that?” I nodded, she left, and then I sort of avoided everyone because it was so awkward trying to convey through gestures that I wasn’t allowed to speak.
Just a few minutes later, the angry photographer pulled me aside and said, “Are you Lauren?” I nodded. She nodded toward Addison and said something like, “You see that? That’s where we’re all headed. That’s where we’re going.” The implication seemed to be that Addison was deeply unhappy and soon we all would be. I gestured helplessly to my mouth, and she immediately said, “Were you told not to speak?” I nodded. She put an X on my nametag and walked away.
The upside of not being allowed to speak was that I spent a lot of time with the artifacts scattered around the room.
There were books placed on the tables. They all looked rather old and in bad condition. Titles: Blondes and Brunets, Compend of Diseases of the Skin, Abundant Living, Beyond Time, Mental Efficiency, 20,000 Words.
In addition there was a Viewmaster with pictures of Hollywood, incense, a candy dish containing candy corn (and another candy that I can’t remember), a vintage oil lamp, a Russian zither (I believe it was this model), and some double-lensed item that may have been a vintage stereoscope (perhaps someone else can confirm). There was no photograph in it, if that’s what it was.
There was also a portable cassette tape player with four cassettes. One was Lyric Language, songs in English and Spanish; one was Hop on Pop by Dr. Seuss; one was Health Journeys, a meditative sleep tape; and one was Old McDonald’s Favorite Songs.
I listened to a small bit of each tape but didn’t hear anything unusual.
The posters. One said something like “The OOA Knows Better Than Your Family, Your Friends, and Even Yourself” with a generic sky background.
Vol I or II (I thought I remembered I, but Buz said II, and he’s probably right) Issue 1 – March 13 1948 – written and edited by Hollister Crane – this poster showed the OOA symbol with the number “5” beneath it, with lines radiating from the “5” to the symbol.
Vol I or II Issue 5 – December 5, 1955 – edited by Hollister Crane – this poster contained the “lantern” image we’ve seen in FB videos before, along with the name “Oraculus Order of Anoch”.
Finally, toward the end I noticed that the main speaker had left something on the stage. When I retrieved it, it seemed to be a tract of some kind, by Dion Fortune. However, it was extremely awkward when everyone gathered around and asked what I had found, and I couldn’t speak, so I handed it over to someone and backed away uncomfortably. Maybe someone else studied it more thoroughly.

Thank you for identifying yourself, ReidV! It’s such a relief to know the ExDeus account wasn’t coming from a place of trickery. We can all appreciate your art now without worrying about whether or not we’re being taken in.
It seems like the suspicious reactions of forum members upset you, and I can understand why, especially if you don’t know the full context. I don’t think it’s ever been stated outright on the forums, so here goes…
1) Someone created a cryptic Twitter account. They used it to suggest that certain participants were Brothers of Seraph, important OOA players, etc. They lured our interest and then began PM-ing some of us. They even urged me to declare myself for the Brothers of Seraph. I did not, obviously, and neither did any of their other victims, but they could easily have ruined this experience for us. After that incident, we were bound to be suspicious of any cryptic social media accounts that weren’t officially Tension-affiliated.
2) Mr Ohio posted several times on these forums. I’m sure he PM’d with some of us as well, though I was not one of them. One day he disappeared: when I asked about it, Overseer replied, “She no longer goes by that name.” Another instance of someone posing as someone they were not, to get information.
That’s why we were suspicious of ExDeus. I can see how, if you weren’t privy to this information, the response to ExDeus seemed overblown and hostile, but hopefully with this context in mind, you’ll see why ExDeus raised so many red flags.
I hope you won’t stop the art!

What? Weird. Did he say why he thought that?
(Also please know you are not the first person in this forum to be accused of “fakeness”. It’s happened before and will happen again.)

I too received an invite! The voice asked me three questions – how I heard about them, what I hoped to gain from this experience, and who I thought they were.
No date/time given, but I’m assuming Sunday? They said they would call on Saturday with more information.

Thank you for putting these together!
The “Blondes & Brunets” book appears to be the one mentioned in this index.
I looked up the author to see what I could find out about her, and found this blurb – here’s an excerpt:
Katherine M. H. Blackford (1875-1958) owed her fame to being a “character expert”, that is, someone who could look at someone (or their photograph), and tell you whether they’d make a great employee or not. Before becoming an expert in her pseudo-science, however, she laid out some guidelines for employers that include many key points still important in modern human resources:
– Number all positions and list the qualifications for each
– Keep accurate records of performance as a means of dealing with the man himself, as a check on efficiency of the employment department, and as a means of determining the trend of the whole organization
– Investigate, consider, and bring up for adjustment all cases of inefficiency, discontent, inharmony, and misunderstanding
– Systematically to make know the ideals of the organization
– Familiarize each worker with the qualities considered to be ideal for his job – then inspire him to strive for their attainment
– Form classes among executives for inspiration, suggestion, and instruction as a scientific method of understanding men
– Beginning at the top, to endeavor to instill into every individual the “spirit of the hive,” the desire to co-operate, to “play the game”As for Compend of Diseases of the Skin, I believe it was the book mentioned on this page as being published in 1925.
I think Abundant Living might have been that first one! I seem to remember it looking something like this.
I’m really not seeing the Beyond Time cover anywhere. I don’t think it’s any of those links? But I’m not sure.
I think it was the Arnold Bennett book, just an earlier edition.
20,000 words – I can’t remember if it was the first, second, or third edition, but it was definitely one that looked pretty much like this.
