I’m somewhat relieved that there was an actual event in this temporal realm. Wholly conceptual ceremonies are still kind of unsatisfying to me. Yay for you and the other observers. Hooray for Dorothy!

I chafe in quiet and complacency. The existence that draws us from home box to work box to casual entertainment boxes is sawdust in my mouth. From time to time I see others with the same haunted hunger in their eyes and for a time we keep company. Rarely I see people with a gleam in their eyes and a peace in their expression that shines like a beacon over the plebeian mire. I want to know what they know, I want to think of exultation as a state of being instead of a word. I want to live in the Storm regardless of comfort or conventionality because I don’t belong where I’ve found myself until now.

It occurs to me that the timing of the Ascension is a prelude to Good Friday and Easter, both days commemorating an altogether more famous event involving “Ascension.” Oracles are traditionally human conduits of the divine used to convey answers to mysteries or provide warnings. The oracles themselves were often kept secreted away, limiting their contact with the outside world and had intermediaries of their own to deal with supplicants.
While the structure of the OOA seems largely hidden, the terminology used by the organization hints at an arcane but tried and true format. As for the purpose…. And what the roles of participants may be, I’m very curious myself.

There are many kinds of people in the world. There are those that stay within the musty confines of their quotidian existences and hate to look out their own windows at night for fear of what might be peering back them. Then there are those who wriggle out of the bosomful clutches of the pack and get to see what no one else does, taste the delights denied to the masses and bear the scars of knowledge the ignorant shudder at the sight of. Those are the lonely and the wise who can only find the solace and company of like minds in secret and dim places – like this perhaps. :/

Haha, culturally speaking, all kinds of formative fun stuff happens in basements. Hanging out with your best friends, experimenting with recreational substances, tentative romantic explorations, hauntings, festive chases in the dark with or without weapons, the end of Silence of the Lambs… I could go on and on. Conclusion: Basements are awesome. ^__^
