The OSDM is, and has been for a while, clearly a strong force in all of this. Without going into details, during Ascension I saw first hand that there was evidence that OSDM was acting as a supervisory role towards active OOA members.
I suspect that it would be fair to say that the OSDM is definitely something to be wary of

I’m afraid I’ll be unable to attend, much though I’d like to.
Would someone be so kind as to serve as my proxy by constantly having a beer in hand, talking nonstop about butts, and then occasionally telling everyone to shut up and play nice?

Welcome,
I should warn you that Tension is broken up into several segments. The segment that the forums were primarily focused on, with our Gatekeeper stories, odd phone calls, and secret meetings was named Indoctrination and ended recently. We are currently in the Ascension phase, which is the ticketed event in LA.
If you’d like to review the events of Indoctrination, the Timeline is a succinct overview, the New Aspirants forums contains many beginner tips or overviews, and the My Haunt Life podcast has our very own @mike and @reaton recounting their experiences in great detail as they happened.
Gatekeeper One is a… confusing topic. The “unveiling” came about in the form of a Periscope posted to their Facebook. When you feel reasonably comfortable that you know what the story so far is, I’d encourage you to watch it.

When are you going? I’m going for round 2 next Friday, myself

I absolutely agree with the cessation of any sort of uncalled for personal attack. I think I erroneously thought that you were telling @blondie and @halfbloodfangirl and by extension anyone else who would want to argue the finer (or cruder) points of the BoS vs OOA conflict that they should stop entirely.
Until we get anything new, I rather enjoy seeing the two sides fight, posture and jab, and I know I’m not alone. As long as we keep it all civil, of course. “What the fuck is wrong with you all!?” seems a fair question for both sides to ask each other.

In fairness, I don’t believe that either side meant this as a real, honest attack. I agree with trying to avoid directed real hatred but, at least from my point of view, the BoS vs. OOA war at this stage is mostly just playful jabs between people

@dimstyle – I suppose it’s not a spoiler, as it was hinted to at the end of Indoctrination and confirmed through all Ascension publications:
Addison is very much in the hands of the OOA. If any of her normal self remains, I didn’t see it.

I’d say that it is wrong to look at Ascension being a continuation of Indoctrination, or anything that would answer questions raised in Indoctrination. Indoctrination provided a backdrop for Ascension, but the two were essentially unrelated from a details standpoint.
Indoctrination gave us an understanding of who Addison was, what the OOA is, and a number of other minor Easter eggs sprinkled throughout, but many of the questions raised in Indoctrination were left unanswered for now. The two were unrelated enough, for example, that in my experience the name “Gatekeeper” was not even mentioned.
Certainly not a complaint, I loved every part of it, but Ascension is a standalone experience, not a place to find answers for questions raised in Indoctrination

@mumumusings – Let me ask you in return. What is the OOA? What is the OSDM? After all of this time, do we know anything concrete beyond what they’ve told us? How do we know that the OOA isn’t just a glorified human trafficking ring with a cult front?
You advocate a surgical approach, but can you even clearly define where one entity begins and the other ends? Can you even identify what any of it is? For all we know, and have been told REPEATEDLY, this is all a lie. What if none of it, OOA, OSDM, Gatekeepers, Light, all of it is true? What proof do we have that any of this is anything more than a giant honey pot to lure us in?
How can you be surgical in the dark?

Maybe it’s just me, but the biggest unanswered question I have is: What was Light2Dark’s deal?

Yes, there was a physical copy in my hands for a portion. I didn’t have a real chance or enough time to actually go through it, but I held an actual file with my information in my hands

I remember wondering that same thing…
Check out Ascension. They literally had a whole file on me, and my online footprint is a relatively small one. Maybe it’ll be the same for you.

@reaton – You mean more talk about it than normal?

I’m alright with this way of dealing with it, at least until we’re reasonably sure that everyone who doesn’t want to be spoiled has gone through. We can move over posts from there to here when that happens, too.

I completely agree, but the stumbling block is that all posts, regardless of location, are going to be included into the Activity feed, which many people use as the primary way of accessing the thread.
The current way that I was planning on proceeding was to allow vague, but increasingly more specific references to one’s event as more and more people go through so that after a couple weeks, when we are reasonably sure that anyone religiously checking the forum have gone through we can talk freely.
However, if we as a community would prefer to deal with this differently, like anyone who has not gone through yet is aware of the spoiler possibilities in the Activity Feed, so relies on manual navigation until they go through, I’m all ears.
