Knowing what and who we know now, this gif is possibly even scarier than before.

Echoing what others have said. This is not “any other haunted house” whatsoever. Any other haunted house lets you leave at the end, giggling and laughing with your friends about who jumped the highest when the zombie jumped at you.
My first time through, with many people that all met through the forums, was a very somber experience that could only be followed by deep drinking and reflection.
My second time through shook me to my core, conversations I had and decisions I made still keep me up at night.
You’re not buying a ticket to walk through a haunted house, you’re buying a ticket to be haunted.

@rizzzoooooo and I met Samson very briefly, actually at the end of the night. We hung back from the group taking their photo, and he walked up from the inside after never seeing him all night. “Michael. Addison. You haven’t even scratched the surface. I’ll be seeing you two a lot more from here on out.”
He seems to be the man with the answers.

@jkomouse, I don’t mean to follow you around, hah
Once you’re inside, you won’t need to worry about creating an experience – that will be crafted around you. Honesty is the most important factor here – the more open you are, the better the experience.
Speaking from my personal experience – if you are completely honest with yourself and with those around you, you will no doubt learn something about yourself in there. Act and react with your emotions, of which I’m sure you will have many. Be brave. Ask questions. Listen to everything. Nothing is random once inside.

I can’t speak for everyone, as our paths are all unique, but I can speak for my own motives.
My motivation for returning was that of questions that needed answers. I went in seeing enlightenment, but not the enlightenment as was promised while the clock was being wound. I needed answers for what makes the clock run. I needed to see the gears as they turned. I needed to know whose time that clock was measuring.
I got those answers and more. But answers lead to more questions – questions that I’m not sure I have the ability to answer, and that gives me hope and fear for whatever comes next.
You have your own questions. There’s only one way to find the answers you’re looking for.

Simon is a good man, maybe one of the best, realest people in the institute. Everything he says comes from a place of love. To think poorly of him is to miss the point.

Oh man, if you had said you were an actress, I’d be worried for you tonight.
You’re gonna have a good time tonight, and don’t worry – there’s enough here that you’ll have plenty to sink your teeth into.

@taysavestheday Good to meet you too! My second visit was this past Saturday. I went in with Rizzo and a whole lot of questions, and received answers.. and many more questions.
I joined the BOS due to the contents of Addison’s journal, as it shined a bright light on the corruption and the predatory nature of those in power at OOA. I stayed with the BOS due to equality – there is no leader, there are no secrets kept, and all were and are responsible for the information that has been gained.
My mind is always open, should the OOA change course. But yep, like you said, only time will tell.

@taysavestheday Going into Ascension and my second visit with the OOA, I was a member of the BOS. Kim is my friend, but she was not my leader.
I was open to all angles, as I figured there was a good reason for Kim to switch literally overnight, and I knew going in that I’d need to hear a very good argument for the things they’re doing. While I did hear a good argument, and one that has many points I agree with, I was not able to disregard the actions of the OOA and their reasoning behind those actions. Based on what I know right now, I will still stand with those the OOA has taken advantage of, has victimized, has damaged.
Kim talked often about independent thinking, transparency, equality. I’m interested to see how those values are being incorporated into her new position. Kim’s there, the Overseer’s right hand. I’m not sure everyone even within the OOA is happy about that, but that’s how it is.

@jkomouse Make sure you’ve checked out the timeline!
And other than comfy shoes, I’d highly suggest wearing underwear. Not a joke.. underwear is important.

I was digging into the article that number was written on, and while I can’t find that article specifically, the one next to it, “Revised Plan for Hillhaven” was published in May 1989. Seems that PFP has to do with funding for funerals, a sort of life insurance..
Here’s the PFP’s website: http://preneed.net
That, plus the Allianz number – it probably has something to do with Bob Jones’s investigation?

@masterlock I look forward to discussing this with you on Saturday. You already know how I feel about your “organization.” I will enter with an open mind, and I look forward to hearing about whatever this new perspective is… and to hear how you will justify the actions your group has taken.
See you soon.
